Everything living on earth has been on an evolutionary journey, and businesses are no different. They start from the seed of an idea and gradually develop into something bigger.

At the beginning of the Amdaris journey we required only basic enterprise resource planning software to manage our initial growth. The business was too small to justify buying software off the shelf, so straight off the bat we needed to think a little outside the box.

Businesses first starting out often find that their needs are too niche to be solved by the introduction of an off-the-shelf product. It’s also likely not conducive to small budgets to make such a significant investment at an early stage.

Our solution?

Enter Advance

When you can’t buy, you build. Advance began as a training ground for Amdaris developers to learn Angular technology, but rapidly evolved into a business-critical system. Advance’s capabilities were largely limited to generating work orders and invoices. Ideal for a fledgling business, but certainly not a long-term solution.

As Amdaris grew and the purchase of off-the-shelf software could gradually be justified, our first HR platform — People HR — was integrated with Advance, as well as Xero, our financial software. Already, there was something more than a simple ERP taking shape. With HR and finances integrated, Amdaris stopped thinking like a business looking for operational functionality and started looking forward towards integration and evolution.

At this point we started asking ‘what if’?

What if we had a single point of truth?

What if we had one architectural guide and one technology roadmap?

Up until this point, Advance had been built purely as an operational platform. But the repeated rumblings of ‘what if’ signified a shift towards a new approach.
