From pool to lake

The foundation of a data lake had emerged from the data we had that was already beginning to pool. If there is no continual flow of fresh water then a lake will begin to stagnate. In Amdaris’ case, no fresh data would result in a stagnation of business growth. With this imagery in mind, a data deluge began as Amdaris integrated more and more software.

We developed our own simple customer relationship management tools, giving us the potential to track both stakeholders and clients.
Our existing workforce planning capabilities evolved in order to better direct the efforts of our growing team.
We built talent pool tracking software, so we would know who is being underutilised in the organisation, whether anyone needs moving, or if a certain job requires more developers.
People HR was upgraded to HiBob in order to give Amdaris employees better control over their work-life balance.
Our humble Advance CRM software was replaced by the titan presence of Salesforce.

The great equaliser

Suddenly we had an enormous amount of data, all pooled in a central location. Even Advance — once the centre point of Amdaris’ software — is now an integrated part of the data lake along with approximately 25 other applications drawing from the same central source of data. The data lake has proven to be the great equaliser, uniting all of our software platforms, unlocking their true potential to work smarter, faster and harder by drawing from the same source of truth.

And that’s just for the applications that already existed. For any new, white label products we decide to develop, we have a set architectural guideline to follow and further build an Amdaris brand identity for our internal functions. Having everything developed from the same source means that we can also create a single user experience throughout our entire database.

Creating a single source of truth isn’t just about convenience, it’s about creating a dynasty from our own applications.
