OUR SOLUTION:

Petrofac asked Amdaris, an Insight company, to provide Application Support for its main operations centre in Sharjah, UAE. In addition to this, Amdaris was asked to stabilise the applications, modernise the application suite, reduce the cost of ownership and oversee investments in future technology.

Amdaris implemented a three-stage plan of stabilisation, optimisation and enhancement to help Petrofac reduce costs and pivot its out-of-date legacy system to a modern, cloud-based, integrated solution.

Swift onboarding

Amdaris’ team replaced Petrofac’s existing supplier with as little disruption as possible, thanks to an exceptional onboarding process and a talented support team.

Within a short six week period, Amdaris assumed full management of Petrofac’s 90 in-house applications.

A rapid and rigorous discovery process

During the initial six weeks, the Amdaris team completed a meticulous research and discovery process. Amdaris engineers spent time with end-users, learning how they navigated these systems, reviewing key issues and identifying problems.

This was followed by workshops to examine code with Petrofac IT leads and technical experts. Amdaris shadowed these teams, before quickly taking the reins. By the end of this expeditious process, Amdaris fully understood Petrofac’s legacy applications.

An agile team of problem solvers

Amdaris immediately reduced costs by deploying a much smaller team to replace the team from Petrofac’s legacy provider.

Instead of a large number of developers with specific skills, Amdaris provided Petrofac with a smaller unit of highly talented problem solvers who continuously looked for opportunities to create improvements, eliminate bugs, and enhance stability and functionality.

Added value from the start

Despite being fewer in number, the Amdaris team took on an additional duty not performed by the legacy provider: acting as a coordinator for Petrofac’s many COTS vendors.

As Petrofac’s single point of contact for all COTS applications, Amdaris made sure that updates were implemented, integrations between applications were successful and user licenses were up to date. As well as the substantial savings in time and money this provided, Petrofac benefitted from a more stable and reliable COTS application suite at no extra cost.
